Benang Kelambu Waterfall
It then started pouring! Half of our crew headed for cover and three of us continued on to Benang Kelambu Waterfall. It was the fifth fall and we decided we would skip the 3rd and 4th because of time and the rain. Let me know if that was a mistake and if we should have visited them.
We ran through the rain and made it to Benang Kelambu Waterfall in record time. It was a really unique waterfall. An epic wall of vines hides multiple cascades that flow, quietly down the wall. I’d never seen anything like it and felt like I was in a scene from a movie. A few locals played in the man-made pools at the bottom of the falls and we helped them practice their English for a while before making the sprint back during a break in the rain.
What To Expect When Visiting
The Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall offer visitors breathtaking views of lush green, jungle-covered hills cascading down to the crystal clear waters of the river. Visitors will be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the stunning natural beauty that Lombok has to offer.
Infrastructure in and around the site is limited, but there are several paths leading down to the falls, allowing visitors access to the area. Arrival times should be planned accordingly as some areas may be inaccessible during certain times due to high water levels. The weather in this region can also vary greatly depending on time of year, so visitors should plan their visit according to local conditions.
Benang Stokel Waterfall
Benang Stokel comprises of three spouts that each empties into a shallow pool. It should be noted that during the dry season, only the main spout will be in full force. It is not recommended to swim at these waterfalls as the pools are very shallow, but visitors can still enjoy a natural waterfall shower.
Benang Kelambu Waterfall
To reach Benang Kelambu waterfall from Benang Stokel, one can follow the maps and signs. The journey is a short 15-minute walk, passing through jungle roads, banana plantations, and culminating in a steep descent to the final waterfall location. This waterfall is like a net or bridal veil and this gives it an ethereal, delicate beauty. Have a close look beyond the main waterfall and pool here because around to the side is another little waterfall and also access to the inside of Benang Kelambu fall.
You can easily walk between these two waterfalls. Furthermore, if you choose to use a local guide (recommended) they will be able to show you three more waterfalls nearby that most visitors do not even know about.
The area is also home to numerous bird species and other wildlife, making for a great opportunity for bird watching or simply taking in the beauty of nature. If you're looking for an adventure, then you'll love exploring all this region has to offer.
