WHERE TO STAY IN NORTHERN LOMBOK
If you are visiting attractions in the north such as Tiu Kelep or Mount Rinjani you should choose one of the three accommodations in the ‘Northern‘ section below.
- Jeeva Santai Villas – Luxury Villa: Great location on the beautiful Mangsit Beach but also within driving distance of Tiu Kelep and Mount Rinjani. It is a location that offers the best of both worlds.
- Hakiki Inn Bungalows – Value: Set on the edge of rice fields with the jungle feel but the comfort of a private bungalow.
- Blue Mountain Cottage – Budget (but also value): This is where I stayed. The room was very basic but it was comfortable enough with a basic private bathroom.
Batu Santek Waterfall
As with a few of the waterfalls on Lombok, travelers visiting Batu Santek and Tibu Bunter Falls will be rewarded with two waterfalls in the same location! These two are lesser-known, hidden gem waterfalls locatednear the village of Sesaot in Central Lombok and accessible via a short walk through the rice fields.
The first, Batu Santek waterfall is a 10-meter waterfall plunging into a shallow pool. The encaving rock face also has several adjacent streams that create a peaceful ambiance. Although the pool is too shallow for swimming, Batu Santek makes a great spot to chill out and cool off and each time I visit here I have it all to myself.

Benang Kelambu Waterfall
It then started pouring! Half of our crew headed for cover and three of us continued on to Benang Kelambu Waterfall. It was the fifth fall and we decided we would skip the 3rd and 4th because of time and the rain. Let me know if that was a mistake and if we should have visited them.
We ran through the rain and made it to Benang Kelambu Waterfall in record time. It was a really unique waterfall. An epic wall of vines hides multiple cascades that flow, quietly down the wall. I’d never seen anything like it and felt like I was in a scene from a movie. A few locals played in the man-made pools at the bottom of the falls and we helped them practice their English for a while before making the sprint back during a break in the rain.

Overall, we had an epic time at these waterfalls. I'd rank them up there with my favorite in Lombok. After a long day of waterfall-chasing, we made the tiring drive back to Senggigi just in time for sunset on Pantai Malase with some local legends.
